Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, little town that is a bit sleepy. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward from that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time there was short. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, however, after a rapid expansion, she and her partner could no longer dance with her. She admitted in an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I grew out of my male counterparts, I gave up. Former dancers often turn to acting, and in the case of Brugel it was an urging from her high school drama teacher. It was the teacher who recommended she go after a role in the school's annual production. She was the teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual production. This led to her being awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. Since then, she's appeared involved in more than 60 shows, big and small. The most notable was the time she was cast as Rita in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian of the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
